'American Idol' to End in 2016 After 15 Seasons
Fox has announced that 'American Idol' will name it's final winner next year when the show comes to an end after 15 seasons.
It's the end of a TV era. The next season of American Idol will be the last for the ground-breaking show.
Judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr. will all return for the 15th season along with Ryan Seacrest, and then it's gone.
The final season will begin in January 2016. It will be a "season long celebratory event" a Fox statement said.
Idol has been a huge hit since Kelly Clarkson won season one. Thirty eight million viewers watched the season two finale with Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard. Now, Idol's audience has shrunk to nine million.
