Caitlyn Jenner Wows in Versace at ESPYs, Tells the World: 'We Have Come a Long Way, But We Have A Lot of Work

Caitlyn Jenner stole the show at the ESPYs when she accepted the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage.

Caitlyn Jenner spoke words from the heart as she received the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage at the ESPYs.

She told the crowd: "This transition has been harder on me than anything I could imagine. We have come a long way, but we have a lot of work to do.”

She wore a long-sleeved cream Versace gown with a V-neck, selected by Angelina Jolie's stylist.

Caitlyn’s 10-minute speech came after a 14-minute video tribute about her transition from sports champion to Vanity Fair cover girl.

Caitlyn asked for understanding for young people questioning their sexual identity the way she once did.

“Trans people deserve something vital. They deserve your respect,” she said. 

Nine of Jenner’s 10 kids were in the audience, all wearing black in contrast with Caitlyn’s cream ball gown.

Nineteen-year-old Kendall Jenner wiped away tears as Caitlyn paid tribute to her family. Caitlyn also thanked her mom, Esther, sitting with her daughter, Pam.

Her award was the talk of the red carpet before the event.

Women's soccer star Alex Morgan told INSIDE EDITION: "It is really great to see what she did, to finally let the world in on who she really is. That is hard to do."

NFL star J.J. Watt told INSIDE EDITION: "What she has been able to do so far for her community is incredible."

But not everyone is thrilled about Caitlyn’s award. The driver suing Caitlyn over that fatal car crash they were both involved in said in a blistering statement: "I find it difficult to understand how the culture we live in can honor a person who is responsible for taking a life and injuring several others."

Caitlyn has not been charged.

Other highlights of the ESPYs included the triumphant U.S. Women's soccer players ditched their shorts and cleats and glammed up to receive the award for Best Team.

Football star Devon Still and his five-year-old daughter, Leah, received an award in recognition of her courage in battling cancer. Unable to attend due to her illness, Leah sent a video message and thanked everyone for their support.

And Yankee legend Derek Jeter was presented with the icon award for his glittering career. He was at the event with his girlfriend, Sports Illustrated cover girl Hannah Davis.

But all eyes were on Caitlyn Jenner as she got a standing ovation when she left the stage.
