Woman Slashed By Homeless Man on Her Way to Work: 'I Can't Believe It's Me'

A New York City woman was slashed on her way to work by a homeless man. Now, she recalls her horror to INSIDE EDITION.

A woman who was slashed across the face as she walked to work in New York City on Wednesday morning says she is still in disbelief.

"I can't believe it is me," Amanda Lynn Morris, 24, told INSIDE EDITION. "The blood scared me so much. All I kept thinking was 'I just want to stop bleeding. I'm scared that I am losing so much blood.'"

At around 6 a.m. Wednesday, Morris was walking through Chelsea in Manhattan to the Whole Foods where she works. Suddenly, a blade-wielding homeless man ran up to her.

"As soon as I saw him, my instinct was 'I can cross the road' but I didn't because I thought I'll be fine," she said.

But then he attacked, slashing her across the face.

"At first I thought he had backhand punched me in the nose and I thought my nose was gushing blood," she said.

The attack cut left inch-long gashes across her face. Amanda ran into The Malibu Diner where good Samaritans gave her a towel to stop the bleeding.

She recalled: "They were like 'Oh my God, you have a big gash running down the side of your face.' I was like 'What do you mean a gash? I thought my nose was broken.' They were like 'no, if you don't get stitches, you are going to pass out.'"

She needed four stitches above her lip and three below her lip.

Amanda posted the images of her attack on Facebook.
