A Bunch of Phoebes Sang 'Smelly Cat' to Celebrate 'Friends' Anniversary
The iconic show is 25 years old.
Could "Friends" fans be anymore excited?
You could call it "The One With All the Phoebes," when a flash mob of Phoebe Buffays stormed New York’s Union Square to perform the quirky song “Smelly Cat” from the beloved sitcom.
Lisa Kudrow’s hippie character first performed the song on season 2 of the hit NBC show in 1995. It was so popular that it popped up several more times during the show's 10-year run.
This week, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the show’s premiere, 25 Phoebes played the tune in New York to the surprise of many roaming the area.
Meanwhile, cast member Courteney Cox, who portrayed Monica, also celebrated the anniversary. She took to Instagram to thank fans for the continued love.
"Celebrating a Thursday night 25 years ago. Thank you to all of our loyal fans across the world. You’ve certainly been there for us!" she wrote.
Kudrow shared the same image and added, "We might be in different places but we are connected."
