Beloved Mailman Gets Warm Retirement Send-Off From Community

Floyd Martin delivered more than mail along his route in Marietta, Georgia.
A community turned out to say farewell to their beloved mailman.
Floyd Martin, known as “Mr. Floyd,” delivered more than the mail along his route in Marietta, Georgia.
The people on Martin’s route will never forget his beaming smile and friendly wave that brightened everyone's day.
Martin always had treats for the neighborhood dogs and watched the children grow up.
Now, after 35 years, Floyd Martin is retiring.
The community banded together to wish him the best with a block party. More than 300 people showed up.
The beloved mailman hoped to take a trip to Hawaii during his retirement and when members of the community found out, they started a GoFundMe campaign to help him realize his dream.
After the group spread the page on social media, Delta Airlines found out about the kind gesture and announced on Twitter that it will take care of the flights.
By Friday afternoon, the GoFundMe page received more than $15,000.
Martin appreciated his send-off. "Continue to take care of each other, and smile when you think of me," he said, according to the GoFundMe page.
