Doorbell Camera Catches Brazen Suspect Stealing Device Itself
Homeowner Andrienne Bursey of Congress Park, Colorado, said her Ring doorbell camera caught the apparent thief taking the device at around 4 a.m. as her family slept inside.
Doorbell cameras have captured plenty of porch pirates in the act, but this alleged thief is in a class of his own for taking the camera itself.
Homeowner Andrienne Bursey of Congress Park, Colorado, said her Ring doorbell camera caught the apparent thief taking the device at around 4 a.m. as her family slept inside.
"It's bold," she told Denver station KMGH-TV. "He knew that he was going to be on film and he didn't care."
It took the brazen suspect just 15 seconds to detach the camera, according to Bursey.
She added that the alleged burglar also took other cameras in the neighborhood.
"I don’t know if they’re doing it to sell them online or if they’re doing it to steal packages in the future," Bursey said.
Police are searching for the suspect seen on camera.
Porch pirates are especially common around the holidays when people are expecting more packages than normal and authorities warn that it's important to be extra vigilant.
