The unnamed victim was rushed to a local hospital, where he is expected to recover.

A Florida man is behind bars for lopping off the penis of his wife's alleged lover with a pair of scissors, authorities said.

Alex Bonilla, 49, allegedly broke into the man's home on Sunday, brandished a gun and tied him up, according to the Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office. Bonilla threatened to kill the man if he didn't cooperate, authorities said.

Bonilla then produced scissors and cut off the man's genitals, deputies said.

There were two children in the home during the attack, according to the sheriff's office.

Bonilla had allegedly caught the man having sex with his wife in May, authorities said. The couple and the victim are neighbors.

The victim told deputies who responded to his 911 call that Bonilla had fled, taking his penis, according to authorities. The man who was attacked remains hospitalized in stable condition and is expected to recover, according to authorities.

Bonilla, who was later arrested, faces charges of burglary, child cruelty, aggravated battery, kidnapping and aggravated assault, according to online records. He remains behind bars in lieu of $1.25 million bail.

It is not clear what happened to the severed sex organ. In a statement, deputies said "a countywide search for additional evidence was conducted with no result."
