Bronx the K-9 officer served the Bakersfield Police Department for eight years.
A special four-legged officer of the law received the sendoff he deserved when his entire department came together to applaud his service as he entered his golden years in retirement.
Bronx the K-9 officer served the Bakersfield Police Department for eight years.
He protected the community with his partner, Senior Officer Chris Dalton, since January 2010 and the pair served on the SWAT Team together since 2014, Bakersfield police said.
“Bronx has done numerous demos for schools and tour groups at our department, and has been awarded many awards throughout the years for his dedication, skills and work,” officials said. “Thank you for being a loyal K-9 all these years, Bronx!”
The department showed how much it cared for Bronx and how much his service meant as they came together to wish him a fond farewell.
Dalton escorted Bronx out on his last day as their colleagues offered a round of applause for his service.
The department posted the send-off on Facebook, where hundreds of commenters shared their gratitude for Bronx’s service.
“Handsome! Thank you for your service Bronx,” one poster wrote.
“Why does this video make me cry?" another commenter wrote. "Great job Officer Bronx. So proud of you! Happy Retirement living with your loving family."
Bronx will now live full-time with Dalton and his family, authorities said.
