A kind officer stepped in to help a homeless man who was trying to shave in the middle of a Detroit street.

Jill Schafer spotted the scene and started taking pictures of the heartwarming moment. The man, who identified himself as Nelson to a local outlet, said he’d received the razor and shaving cream as a handout and wanted to use it.

Jeremy Thomas of the Detroit Police Department saw him and Nelson initially though Thomas was going to ask him to leave, but he offered to help him shave instead.

"And he turned around blindly and said, 'Yes, thank you. God bless,'" Thomas told WXYZ.

Schafer said she couldn’t believe what she was seeing, which is why she snapped the photos

“This officer went above and beyond the call of duty,” Schafer told InsideEdition.com. “He was genuinely helping out a homeless man that was using rain puddles to shave his face. I just wanted to show that there are good cops out there and show them in a positive way.”
