100-Year-Old German Man Accused of Nazi Era Murders Committed at Sachsenhausen

August 6, 2021

A 100-year-old German man is the latest person to stand trial for war crimes committed during World War II. The man, whose identity is protected by German privacy laws, was charged in February for his alleged role in the murder of over 3,500 people. Despite his advanced age, he was deemed fit to stand trial by German prosecutors. He is accused of working at the Sachsenhausen Nazi concentration camp, and to allegedly have participated in the firing squad and poison gas deaths of prisoners.
