Some of the food that would have been served at a grand banquet in 1776 would have included a minimum of six meats. There were also dishes of stuffed pounded means that were called "olives" but did not include olives. The term referred to the shape. Multiple savory pieces would also be served. The layers of crust kept the food insulated so it could get to the table warm.
