Rare Animal From Madagascar Born at Nashville Zoo
March 22, 2024
The Nashville Zoo welcomed a male spotted fanaloka pup to its care, weighing only one-quarter of a pound. In 2022, Nashville Zoo was the first American zoo to ever have one of the rare pups born inside their facility. Fanaloka are native to the rainforests of Madagascar. The species is considered vulnerable due to habitat destruction, according to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. Eventually this currently unnamed pup will grow to be about the size of a small cat.
