Happy Banned Books Week!
Recently there’s been a rise in the number of banned and challenged books in the U.S. Kasey Meehan, a program director with PEN-America, describes it as an “assault on our democracy, on our democratic process, and a real threat to the freedom to read.” Her organization and others are sponsoring “Banned Book Week.” Meehan told Inside Edition Digital the campaign is meant “to raise awareness around book bans and how they are occurring in both our public schools and our public libraries.”
