Emotional Hike for Doctor Who Spent Nearly 2 Months in Hospital With COVID-19
January 1, 2022
Family physician Dr. Karl Viddal hiked Arizona’s Camelback Mountain, just months after being in a coma and losing much of his lung function. He was hospitalized for nearly 2 months with COVID-19. Physicians credit treatment with an ECMO machine for saving Dr. Viddal’s lung function during his coma. Now this 46-year-old doctor can return to his wife and three children, after climbing Camelback Mountain and thanking the other doctors who helped him on his journey back to good health.
