Washington Authorities Rescue Double Amputee Stuck In Hammock Over River
April 24, 2026
Authorities in Washington state waded through rising water to rescue a double amputee who became stranded in a hammock during high tide on April 21. Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office says that the man had fallen asleep and was unable to put on his prosthetic legs as the water rose around him. Even police needed help as a small launch from a Washington State Ferry was later used to transport the victim after officers were unable to safely carry him out.
