Mexico’s Lucha Libre Wrestlers Adapt to Survive Coronavirus Pandemic

Mexico’s brand of professional wrestling— known as Lucha Libre— has taken a hit this year. COVID-19 has claimed the lives of several wrestlers. And the pandemic has put a halt to the large public matches that are the economic lifeblood of the sport. Now, three wrestling brothers, the Olivares, have found a way to continue wrestling. They’ve set up an outdoor ring next to Mexico City’s famous Floating Gardens. They’re counting on an audience of riverboat tourists for their matches.
