Reconstructive Surgery Helped Restore These People’s Faces

When Rebekah Aversano met Richard Norris for the first time, in 2015, she recognized him instantly. That’s because Norris received her late brother Joshua’s face in a full face transplant. And Mary Jo Buttafuoco made headlines when she was shot in the face in 1992. Mary Jo’s face was partially paralyzed from the incident, and remained that way until Dr. Babak Azizzadeh performed a procedure to help restore her smile.
