Baseball Player Legally Blind in One Eye Gets Scholarship to Pitch for College Team

Payton Bryan was diagnosed with a rare eye disorder called Coats Disease when he was a child. Coats is non-hereditary eye disorder that causes abnormal and leaky blood vessels in the retina, leading to fluid buildup and potential vision loss. Payton, who is a pitcher and baseball fanatic, is legally blind in his left eye but it never stopped him from participating in America's pastime. Now, the Nevada teen is on a full scholarship to Ottawa University in Arizona to pitch on the school's baseball team.
