Volunteers Clean Brooklyn Grave of Jean-Michel Basquiat to Honor Late Artist

After artist Jean-Michel Basquiat died in 1988 at the age of 27, he was buried in Brooklyn’s Green-Wood Cemetery. His humble gravestone has become a site of pilgrimage for his fans, and sometimes people go so far as to leave graffiti on the marker. Every year, a group of volunteers from France travels to New York to clean the artist’s grave. One volunteer told InsideEdition.com, “We have to pay respect” to people like Basquiat.
