'Most Dangerous' Amusement Park, New Jersey's Action Park, Is Subject of New HBO Doc
A new documentary explores the dangerous scene at America’s first water park, which was dubbed the “most dangerous amusement park in America.”
It was a time when you didn’t have to worry about the coronavirus, but a trip to New Jersey’s famed Action Park came with its own risks. Many visitors were injured and some even died while seeking thrills on the rides.
Back in the 1980s, it was a popular destination for thrill seekers, despite its nicknames "Accident Park" and "Traction Park."
Now a new documentary explores the dangerous scene at America’s first water park, which was dubbed the “most dangerous amusement park in America.” The rides were experimental—some worked, some didn't.
“Class Action Park” is available on HBO Max and shows how people still showed up to have fun despite all the reported mishaps.
"Everybody knew it was dangerous, and that's why they went. The danger became the attraction," said filmmaker Seth Borges.
