Philadelphia 76ers Dancer Jumps Into Soldier Boyfriend's Arms as He Surprises Her During Game
He had been deployed for 11 months in the Middle East.
A dancer for the Philadelphia 76ers jumped for joy and straight into the arms of her soldier boyfriend as he surprised her after nearly a year deployed in the Middle East.
Angela Destasio, 23, a rookie Sixers dancer, couldn't believe it when her boyfriend of three years, Sgt. Elliot Burgos, 29, walked out with the team's mascot Saturday night.
Burgos, who had been deployed for 11 months in Kuwait and Jordan with the U.S. Army Reserve, returned home to New Jersey Wednesday, but kept his homecoming a secret from his girlfriend.
Once Destasio spotted her beau, who was carrying roses for her, she leapt into his open arms.
"It was unbelievable — I thought I was dreaming," she told Inside Edition. "I was shaking, and my legs were trembling. I'm glad he caught me because I don't know if I could've stood up."
“When she got into my arms, I couldn’t even tell you what was going on around me,” he added.
