A disturbing fight between two airline employees that was caught on video was actually a lover's quarrel, authorities said.
In the video, which happened on a jetway in at the airport in Denver, a Republic Airways pilot can be seen walking up to a female staffer who actually was his ex-girlfriend. He appears to spit at her and she in turn slaps him.
Then the pilot punches her in the stomach and hits her in the face.
According to police, Pilot William Thomas and his colleague, Marisha Sporer, had been involved an intimate relationship.
Officials said Sporer found "material ... that she did not agree with on her boyfriend's cellphone and an argument ensued."
Police said Sporer became angry and grabbed her ex-boyfriend by the neck tie and slapped him three times.
The video was leaked to FlyerTalk, an internet forum for air travelers.
Both employees are no longer with the airline and police arrested the former lovers for assault. They're due in court later this month.
