Retiring Police Officer Tears Up as He Delivers Final Radio Call

Playing Retiring Cop Gets Emotional During Last Radio Call

A Florida police officer teared up as he signed off for the last time in his career.

After 30 years with the Sarasota Police Department, Officer Andre Jenkins announced over the radio from his cruiser that it would be his last time going "10-7," or "out of service."

"This will be my last transmission on the radio," he announced through tears.

The dispatcher responded, "Copy, congratulations on your retirement."

Jenkins went on, "I’d like to thank all my SPD family for the last 30 years of being by my side and especially for today, being a memorable one. I had plenty of good times and a lot of good memories from my career and I appreciate it and I cherish them for the rest of my life. I wish you all well and a safe tour of duty."

Jenkins started as a corrections deputy at the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office before moving to the Sarasota Police Department.

As he completed his final address over the police radio through tears, his colleagues responded with kind words.

"It’s been a pleasure, brother," one officer said.

Another could be heard over the radio, "You earned it, buddy. Good job."

Jenkins' unforgettable impact on the community was demonstrated through several letters that were sent to the officer through his time at the Sarasota Police Department and obtained by InsideEdition.com.

An 80-year-old man said Officer Jenkins helped him find his way when he became confused.
