Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman Lets Ellen DeGeneres Shave His Beard for Charity

All it took for him to shave it was a pair of bets.
Say bye-bye to the beard.
For the last nine months, Super Bowl LIII MVP Julian Edelman has been letting his facial hair grow out. But all it took for him to shave it was a pair of bets.
The first came days before the Super Bowl, when the wide receiver told Deion Sanders he’d lose the beard if his New England Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams in the big game, according to Bleacher Report.
Enter Ellen DeGeneres.
Edelman had the Vince Lombardi trophy in tow during his appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Friday afternoon, following his team’s 13-3 win.
The host made him put his money where his mouth is — daring him to nix the beard in exchange for her donating $10,000 to one of his favorite organizations, The Boys and Girls Club.
Edelman laughed at the proposition. “It’s like a child, it grows on you,” he said. Then, without hesitation, he agreed. “Let’s do it!”
In true Ellen fashion, she rolled out a barber’s chair and took out the razor, joking that she’d only ever shaved her dog. A couple of minutes later, Edelman was all smiles. The Boys and Girls Club wound up with $20,000, as Edelman also put up his own money.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is also more clean shaven after the win, losing his shadow at the Gillette World Shaving Headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts.
