Texas Father and Son Accused of Killing Neighbor in Trash Dispute
The pair is being held at Taylor County Jail.
A Texas father and son have been accused of killing their neighbor over the weekend in a dispute over trash, police said.
Police in Abilene said 67-year-old John Miller and his 31-year-old son, Michael, were arrested in connection with the death of 37-year-old Aaron Howard.
"Several days ago, we believe the deceased and the Millers began arguing over trash in the alleyway," said Chief Stan Standridge of the Abilene Police Department in a news conference Saturday. "This then triggered a back-and-forth between the neighbors, culminating in today's violence."
Police said Miller was armed with a handgun when he went to take out the trash Saturday and encountered Howard. Things "escalated," police said, and Michael retrieved a shotgun and joined his father outside. Another person went into Howard's home to get a baseball bat.
Both Millers ultimately shot Howard, police said. He died of his injuries. The Millers were arrested for murder and are being held in Taylor County Jail.
