These Cool Food Ideas Will Help You Beat the Heat
When the mercury rises, the last thing you want to do is turn on the stove.
When the mercury rises, the last thing you want to do is turn on the stove.
Thankfully, chef Zac Young has some cool food ideas to keep you eating well during the heat wave.
Salads are your friend, so think tuna or chicken salad in a cucumber cup.
"Take a cucumber, hollow it out a little bit with a spoon or you could use a knife," Young said, demonstrating. "... No mayo, just some olive oil, a little bit of vinegar, of course."
If you're not feeling the meat, grab a watermelon and whip up some watermelon salad with heirloom tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette.
And believe it or not, soup can be perfect for a hot day, as long as it's chilled. Young recommends a cold carrot soup.
"Went to the grocery store, bought the carrot soup, put in the fridge," Young said with a laugh.
And what do you wash it all down with? Homemade lemonade.
Cheers to staying cool in this hot weather. Check out the video above for more.
