Widow Has Wedding Dress Photo Shoot With Friends in Memory of Late Husband
She got the idea from the "Friends" episode "The One With All the Wedding Dresses."
Katie Swantek is trying to make new memories in her wedding gown.
Her firefighter husband, Brett, died suddenly in a tragic kayaking accident in May, leaving her to care for their 3-year-old son alone. And when she stumbled upon her wedding dress while clearing out her closet last month, she was inspired to watch her wedding videos from ages ago.
It made her miss Brett, and she decided she wanted to feel more happiness, instead of sadness, when she saw herself in the gown she said "I do" in.
So she called her wedding photographer and some of her best friends for a special photo shoot. All the women once again donned their wedding dresses — just to bring Katie some happiness.
Katie said she got the idea from the 1998 "Friends" episode "The One With All the Weddings Dresses," in which Rachel, Monica and Phoebe bond while wearing wedding dresses.
So together, in the favorite spot that Katie and Brett shared behind their home in Nebraska, the women sang and laughed together, dressed in white.
