Kamala Harris Once Dated Talk Show Host Montel Williams
The then-new couple walked the red carpet together in 2001.
Long before Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris made waves during the debates, she got her first taste of the limelight when she briefly dated talk show host Montel Williams.
In 2001, the then-new couple walked the red carpet together at the Eighth Annual Race to Erase MS in Los Angeles. They were accompanied by Williams' daughter Ashley.
Williams had just been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, while Harris was working for the San Francisco City Attorney's Office.
After images and video recently surfaced of the two, Williams commented on their dalliance.
"Kamala Harris and I briefly dated about 20 years ago when we were both single. So what?" he wrote on Twitter. "I have great respect for Sen. Harris."
Harris went on to marry Douglas Emhoff, while Williams is married to his third wife, Tara Fowler.
Harris has not commented on her former relationship with Williams.
