Man Allegedly Evades Police Capture in Dump Truck After Dropping Gravel on Highway

The vehicle, which police believed to be stolen, finally came to a stop when its tires burst after cops dropped spike strips on the road.

A man allegedly took a joyride in a dump truck Friday, dropping gravel along a highway in Portland and evading police officers as they pursued him.

According to local reports, police said several calls came in about a dump truck driving slowly along Interstate 5 and dropping piles of gravel along the way. The truck allegedly did not stop when pursued by police.

Police said the driver eventually exited the highway and drove onto Southwest Barbur Boulevard, continuing to leave piles of gravel. The vehicle, which police believed to be stolen, finally came to a stop when its tires burst after cops dropped spike strips on the road.

Craig Ferrero was arrested on suspicion of criminal mischief, reckless driving, reckless endangering and unlawful use of a vehicle. Dozens of cops 

It was not clear if Ferrero had an attorney, the Associated Press reported.
