Joshua Green had more than 400 candles set up on a Seattle lawn to recreate the famous scene.

Any "Grey’s Anatomy" fan remembers the “candle house” scene well, and one Missouri man decided to recreate it in his proposal to his fiance.

Joshua Green, of Kansas City, arranged more than 400 candles on the lawn of Gasworks Park in Seattle, Washington, to recreate the romantic scene from the ABC hit medical drama for his proposal to girlfriend Hannah Pettijohn.

“It was sentimental to us and she loved it,” Green told InsideEdition.com. “It was everything I wanted.”

Green explained that when they first met about three years ago, he knew right away Pettijohn was a big fan of "Grey’s Anatomy."

“The minute I turned it on, I was hooked and she rewatched it all with me,” Green said. “We still rewatch it and that is our show.”

They even named their now 2-year-old son Avery after one of the characters.

Shortly after his birth, Green said they were rewatching some of their favorite episodes from the series and Pettijohn mentioned how much she loved the scene in season four in which Meredith Grey used candles to illustrate the floor plan of the home she wants to build for Derek Shepherd.

Over the next two years, between kids growing up and their jobs and studies, Green planned his elaborate proposal.

In addition to finding a good time for them to do a couples’ trip to Seattle, where the television show is set, Green got in touch with a local photographer, Christi Hunt, and organized the surprise.

“I chose Christi Hunt because she knew the scene, she knew everything, she made me feel comfortable and I had no doubt we can do this,” Green said. “I didn’t hardly know what she looked like.”

But Hunt did what she needed to do to make the surprise happen, including figuring out how many candles were used in the original scene and figuring out an alternative place to set up the surprise when the location the television show used would be too inconvenient.

When it came to the big day, Pettijohn was completely blown away.

“I was like, ‘Don’t pass out’ because it looked like she was about to,” Green said. “I basically took Derek Shepherd’s words into my proposal. I gave her a proposal she’ll never forget.”
