DC and Marvel Comics Illustrator Dies on Free Comic Book Day

George Perez, an American comic book artist and writer known for penciling The Avengers for Marvel Comics in the 1970s and for rebooting DC Comics' Wonder Woman series in the '80s, has died. Perez died peacefully at home with his wife and family by his side, his official Facebook page says. “To know George was to love him; and he loved back. fiercely and with his whole heart,” the statement read in part.
