NASA Astronaut James Halsell was a national hero, piloting and commanding five space shuttle missions. Now he’s heading to prison. Prosecutors say he drank a bottle of wine, took sleeping pills and drove 100 miles per hour, striking the rear of a car being driven by Pernell James, killing two girls in the backseat, Niomi James, 11, and Jayla Parler, 13. Halsell pleaded guilty to manslaughter and assault while driving under the influence in an Alabama courtroom.
