The Unsolved Valentine's Heist at the Met Museum
February 1, 2025
Days before Valentine's Day in 1979, a two century old bust of the Greek God Hermes was stolen in broad daylight out of the Metropolitan Museum of Art during one of the busiest times in its history. Security at the museum and police scrambled to find out who did it but the case was resolved when a tip came into police that said it was in a locker in Grand Central Station. While the bust was recovered, the case has never been solved and remains a mystery as to who took the bust.
