Long before he was in Chic or worked with Pharell, Nile Rodgers was a 16-year-old from New York who became part of the Black Panther party. He says that, and encounters with police, helped shape him. “I am only sitting here just because of the number of encounters I have had, the police didn't choose to shoot. That's it,” Rodgers said.
