Marchers Parade Through Waist-High Icy River in Bulgaria for Christian Holiday

A troupe of men paraded down an icy canal in Bulgaria to mark Epiphany, a Christian holiday connected to Christmas. In the Orthodox tradition, Epiphany celebrates the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan by John the Baptist. What better way to honor the occasion than with a chilly march through waist-high ice water? And as part of the celebration, a crucifix is thrown to the marchers.
