Matthew Shepard's Parents Donate His Superman Cape to Smithsonian Museum

Two decades after Matthew Shepard was killed for being gay, the Smithsonian National Museum of American History is honoring him. Shepard's parents donated some of his belongings to the museum to preserve his legacy. In October 1998, he met two men in a bar in Laramie, Wyoming. They brought him to a prairie where they robbed and brutally beat him before tying him to a fence and leaving him there.
