A police car pulls up to a house responding to an emergency call. A mom in hysterics runs out holding her choking 3-week-old baby girl. Officer Cameron Maciejewski takes charge, and as he performs back blows, the distraught mother wails and collapses to the ground as the deputy attempts to clear the infant’s throat. Someone asks, “is she breathing?” “She?” Maciejewski says of the baby, who he thought was a boy. “Yes, she’s breathing.” Les Trent spoke with Officer Maciejewski about the incident.
