Russian Chefs Set Pancake Tower Record at Maslenitsa Festival Welcoming Spring

Chefs in Russia set a national record by piling high 3-and-a-half meters of pancakes—that’s over 11 feet! It took approximately 1,500 pancakes to build the tower at a festival in Siberia. The pancake tower was one of the centerpieces of a festival known as Maslenitsa, which welcomes spring. An effigy of winter was burned to usher out the cold. Over in the western Russian region of Kaluga, a massive wooden castle was set aflame at a Maslenitsa festival.
