Hot dogs, an unlikely contender on the quarantine food leaderboard, are having their moment just as summer kicks off. Grocery store sales of hot dogs are up by a whooping 123%, and some food companies are increasing their production to meet demand. Stew Leonard’s Grocery in Norwalk, Connecticut said they sold 150,000 hot dogs last week. “That’s a lot of hot dogs,” says owner Stew Leonard. People are grabbing them because they store well and kids like them. It’s hard to mess up a hot dog!
