It’s definitely a lucky strike.
A woman whose husband has not been getting paid due to the partial government shutdown has won the lottery.
When Carrie Walls entered the Virginia Lottery’s Ford Expedition Plus $100K promotion back on Dec. 4, she had no idea how important the win would become. Her ticket was plucked from more than 554,000 entries, according to the Virginia Lottery.
"I cried. I couldn't believe it," she said
Walls’ husband has been furloughed in what has now become the longest federal government shutdown in history, CNN reports.
The prize also came with a brand new SUV.
