Inside the Divorce Hotel, the Ultimate Weekend Getaway for Couples Looking to End Their Marriage
The experience comes with a mediator and, of course, separate rooms.
One husband and wife checked into a hotel recently but it wasn’t for a romantic getaway — it was to get divorced.
Blake and Stevee Tiernan checked into the Divorce Hotel, a place where you come in married and leave single.
“I can't be married to this guy any longer,” Stevie told Inside Edition.
The mom of two has been married to her husband, an insurance executive who works crazy hours, for a decade and she has had enough.
“At end of day, we can be friends,” Blake said.
"That's our goal," she echoed.
Divorce Hotel is a weekend service available at the Gideon Putnam Resort and Spa in Saratoga Springs, New York. Each spouse gets two nights in their own room and a professional mediator, Michelle Martin.
“You know how long it’s going to take," Martin said of Divorce Hotel. "You know how much it’s going to cost. And you leave your marriage on a positive note."
The couple met to divide their financial assets without issue, but the gloves came off when the negotiations turned to child custody.
As things got heated, Martin called for a break; Stevee went for a massage and Blake played a round of golf.
By the end of Day 3, they had reached a deal and checked out of the hotel as single people.
