11-Year-Old Scarlett Harper Becomes an Activist to Craft ‘Bee Bill’ in Illinois

Scarlett Harper is a friend to bees. The Winnetka, Illinois, 11-year-old became an activist, working to protect them from mosquito pesticides that may deplete bee populations. She cold-called Illinois state representatives, to help craft a bill aimed at limiting the use of certain chemicals. Scarlett told CBS News, “Bees are completely vital to humans. They pollinate a third of our food supply, and without them, we can’t survive.”
