Are Toe Cage Pedals to Blame for Biden’s Bike Fall?

President Biden seemed unfazed by his fall over the holiday weekend in Delaware. He tumbled off his bike because his foot got caught on the pedal as he dismounted from what appeared to be a Trek FX1 hybrid bike. Apparently, Biden uses a type of pedal known as a toe-cage. Unlike flat pedals, toe cages wrap around the front of the rider's foot. In 2020, Bicycling Magazine said the bike seemed to have a "rusty chain well past its prime."
