The winning entry in this year’s Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Half Moon Bay, California, was so big, it needed a forklift. The massive gourd weighed in at 2,191 pounds. That earned its grower — Jeff Uhlmeyer from Washington state — over $19,000 in prize money. Uhlmeyer shared the secrets to his success: "Good soil practices.
