When politicians like Donald Trump, Sarah Palin and Bill de Blasio used forks and knives to eat pizza, they were pilloried in the press and by foodies. But times have changed in the COVID-19 era, and now many food safety experts recommend that people shift to hands-free eating in order to decrease the odds of transmitting the coronavirus. One-time restaurant staples like menus, salt and pepper shakers and ketchup bottles may also be on their way out.
