December 9, 2018
The sheriff's sergeant, who died while responding to a mass shooting at a California bar on November 7, was killed by friendly fire. Authorities say Ron Helus was shot five times by the suspected gunman and once by a law enforcement officer, who struck him in the heart. Investigators say Helus was wearing body armor when he entered the Borderline Bar and Grill, where a gunman opened fire on the people inside.
