Tarantulas Laying Eggs During Sonoran Desert Mating Season in Arizona

Good news for hairy spider lovers everywhere...it’s mating season for tarantulas! “They really love the moisture and their eggs do better when it’s moist outside,” Katelyn Garcia of the Phoenix Herpetological Society told KPHO. “They can have hundreds of eggs, so they can have quite a few offspring, but a lot of the time, those will be preyed upon.” Contrary to popular belief, tarantula bites aren’t deadly to humans. “They’re about as venomous as a bee,” said Garcia.
