As pandemic restrictions begin to ease, people can start getting a little closer -- but not everyone is ready to start embracing again! After a year of lockdown, some of us now recoil at the sign of another person getting too close. Etiquette expert Elaine Swann says it’s one thing to hug family members, but don’t be surprised if you’re rejected by friends and colleagues when you go for a hug or handshake. She says that we should lead with our words, and ask “Are you open for hugs or handshakes?"
