Tanvi Barman is a high school senior who has had more birthday parties than the average 17-year-old.

"Today would be my 45th birthday," she joked to CBS News.

Barman spends her weekends throwing parties for homeless children around California through her nonprofit organization, No Birthday Left Behind. It’s goal is to throw birthday parties for every child who lives in a homeless shelter.

"Its very hard for these children to get a source of happiness in their lives,” Barman said.  “I can provide them a day where they feel special and loved."

Growing up, Barman’s parents used to take her with them while they volunteered at shelters. She was inspired by the kids who never got to celebrate like she did. Now, No Birthday Left Behind operates out of four Bay Area shelters, and is continuing to expand.
