Police Accused Of Shooting Wrong Brother: Lawsuit

Maverick Lyon was being held hostage at knifepoint inside a house by his own brother. Maverick says it began when his brother was having a mental health episode. Maverick said he managed to grab a knife in self-defense. In a lawsuit alleging police used excessive force, Maverick claims that when he escaped from the house in response to police orders he dropped the knife he was holding but was shot by police five times.The district attorney would not comment on the lawsuit but has previously said the police officers’ actions were justified because they reasonably believed their actions were needed to protect their lives.
